I've created my character, now what?

After the player creates their new character, they will be given the "Character Selection Screen", where they can then select their character from a list of their created characters, and go into the game with them. At this stage in the game, there are a wide variety of things to do. All new characters are required to go through the tutorial, which will lead them into their first battle in the world of Voryn.

The battle system was made to be easily figured out by any newcomer to the game-- straightforward and simple, it provides an easy and fun way for all players to fight. When the player has defeated the monster, they will receive gold and experience, and then return to town, where they're given a variety of buildings to visit.

The Inn allows players to rest and restore health and spell points. The Wizard's Shop allows players to buy potions and spells. The Armory allows players to purchase new weapons, armor, and shields. Finally, the Training Camp allows players to train with Kefur or Sefur, who will teach them how to be stronger wizards or knights.

How do I earn gold and experience for my character?

Players earn gold and experience through battles and quests. By defeating monsters and completing quests, they are rewarded with these for their victories. Keep in mind: the higher level the monster is, the more gold and experience earned. The lower level the monster is, less gold and experience is earned.

Why am I missing so much in battle?

The battle system utilizes percentages based on the player's character's skill levels. If the character is new, they're less likely to hit monsters on a constant basis. If the character is experienced, they are more likely to hit monsters on a constant basis. Unfotunately, if a player is missing a lot in battle, their character is simply having a bad run. Keep trying, an attack will get through eventually.

What determines my rewards for winning a battle?

In Realm Defender, as is custom for many of the games in its genre, the higher level the monster defeated, the more experience and gold gained.

Where do I buy items for my character?

In almost every town of Realm Defender, there are shops and stores for the player to visit to purchase items and upgrades for their character. Wizard Shops offer spells and potions, and Armories offer weapons, shields and armor. Some towns, cities, and villages simply won't have shops or armories, however, but will rather have small outposts that offer various types of items and weapons. More often then not, these buildings will only be able to be found in towns, villages and cities.

Why do some items require "Platinum" to purchase?

"Platinum" is a special type of currency only given to those who upgrade to Realm Supporter status. An incredibly valuable type-of currency, it is used to buy some of the most powerful weapons in the whole game. These weapons are often needed to help boost a player's character and prepare them for future quests and monsters as they continue on through the game.

I've bought an item, now how do I equip it?

To equip an item, the player must first enter into a monster battle. Once in the battle screen, the player will then be able to select certain areas of the menu that will allow them to select items in their inventory to equip. For example, selecting Spells will allow the player to change the spell they wish to cast, selecting armors allows them to change the type of armor they're wearing, selecting weapons allows the player to change their weapon and, just the same, selecting shields allows them to change the shields their character uses.

The game's slowing down in battle, why is that?

Realm Defender is a very expansive game, and therefore has a bit of a longer load time on slower computers. The player's computer might not neccesarily be a slower computer, but if its processor isn't strong enough to handle Realm Defender on high quality, we suggest keeping it at its default "Medium" quality. The quality of the image in flash often helps determine how quickly the game will run-- players on Realm Defender using a lower quality will experience faster game times then those on higher quality. Players should toggle the quality settings and see what works best for them. If they have any further problems with this issue, it may be that their processor isn't strong enough to run Realm Defender for long periods of time.

What are quests?

Quests are available in a wide variety of areas, but the most common area of all are the armories, where the owners will often have for players missions to go on for the town. That being said, not all towns are the same, and therefore there are some quests found in other buildings, or offered by other game characters. Always be on the lookout for a "Quest" button, as this means the area the character is currently in allows for them to go on a quest to earn experience and gold.

How do I increase my skills? Are there trainers?

While not every town offers trainers for players, there are quite a few that do, and these are absolutely vital for all growing players of the game. If a player finds that they are at a disadvantage against the hordes of monsters in the Realm Defender universe, they can simply save up some money and get some training done! Training makes increasing a character's skills quicker and easier then simply trying to level them up.

How do I travel on the world map?

Well, to start, a character must be a certain level to access the "Travel Map" area of the game. If a player who is too low a level selects the Travel Map button on the main window, they'll find the map grayed out and a notice that tells them they're too low a level. When a player is ready to, however, all they have to do is select the button and access the map. From here, the player can click on any of the adjacent towns to their own on the map itself. The location of their character is indicated by a large yellow circle. Players can only travel to cities, towns and villages directly connected to the one they're in. This can be through a forest trail, a roadway, or even by a ship's trade route. Be warned, however: traveling the world of Voryn is a perilous experience, and often is plagued with dangerous monsters along the way.

I want to change my character's name, but how?

Unfortunately, at this time there is no way for a player to change their character's name after they have created them. If they really wish to be rid of the character, they have the option to delete them and start fresh again; however, once again, there is no way to change the name of the character. Also, keep in mind that once a character is deleted, it cannot be brought back.

I'm not seeing any game updates, why?

This is a problem that could be happening for a multitude of reasons, but have two very simple solutions. First, simply try refreshing the page. Web browsers might be loading an older file and not realize that the file was replaced. If a player finds that they are still unable to see the game updates, then they should clear their brower's cache. In most cases, this is exactly the thing that fixes the problems for the player unable to get the updates.
